Ribbon Cables
Practical ribbon cable
Flat ribbon cable is a multicore cable in which the cores run side by side. The advantage of this is that, unlike cables in which the individual cores are arranged in a circle in the insulating tube, the ends of the wires can be connected to the respective connectors simply and easily. The ribbon cables in Bürklin Elektronik's product range have up to 80 cores. They are primarily used where multi-pole signal lines are used, for example in information technology. Ribbon cables are characterized by their special flexibility and pliability, which is why they are sometimes also called flex cables. They can be shielded, but also unshielded. Often the cables are sheathed with aluminum or copper foil. Mostly gray PVC material is used for the shielding. Color-coded ribbon cables make installation easier due to their color coding. When connecting computers, servers and the like, their use prevents confusion.
