What is a Sensor IC?

Sensor ICs are sensors in the form of integrated circuits (IC) that are used in almost all electrical devices, such as computers, smartphones or cars. Sensor ICs are mainly used on printed circuit boards and in circuits. ICs stand out due to their extremely small size and reliability. Depending on the size to be measured, there are different types of IC sensors.

Application areas of sensor ICs

A temperature sensor is used to measure temperatures in e.g. AC control systems. Acceleration sensors are used in pedometers to measure acceleration or velocity. Changes in position, e.g. in a vehicle transmission, are detected by Hall effect sensor ICs, while sound levels and sound frequencies are measured by noise sensors. These are built into microphones in smartphones, among other things. Light sensors, for example, measure ambient light and make automatic adjustments to the brightness of monitors.
