The Raspberry Pi 5 is the latest addition to the Raspberry Pi single-board computer family. Compared to its predecessor, the brand new model features a faster 2.4GHz ARM Cortex-A76 processor, the BCM2712 from Broadcom, a VideoCore VII graphics processor that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2, and also offers better heat dissipation. There are also significant improvements to the camera, display and USB interface. The Raspberry Pi 5's power management IC integrates a real-time clock and circuitry for a coin cell that the RTC can use if the mains power supply is interrupted. The Raspberry Pi 5 includes two four-lane MIPI connectors, each supporting a camera or a display. These improved connectivity options are provided by the RP1 I/O controller chip. This is the first time a chip developed by Raspberry Pi has been used on a flagship product! The Raspberry Pi 5 is a versatile and powerful single-board computer that supports a wide range of applications, including DIY projects, education, media centers, servers, desktop computers, and many IoT applications.
