Safe electronics thanks to TVS diodes: protection against overvoltages
TVS diodes are special suppressor diodes designed to protect particularly sensitive electronic circuits from transient overvoltage pulses. They "swallow" short-term voltage spikes and thus consistently keep the voltage at a safe level. Only when a certain voltage threshold is exceeded does the fuse trip.
Particularly in areas where voltage fluctuations occur frequently, semiconductor components used can be protected with the help of TVS diodes. The diodes are therefore used particularly frequently in communications or automotive technology.
